Engine start buzzer/beep having problems...

The last two times out, the engine start beep that turns on when you turn the key to on and the shuts off a few seconds after the engine starts has started STAYING ON after the engine is started. Most recently, I had to disconnect it because it just stayed on the whole time.

Has anyone run into this before? Aside from not beeping for safety purposes, are these wired into anything else typically? I'd like it to work properly again, I'm just not sure if I need to replace it, or something else associated with it.

My understanding is the buzzer is to alarm you if the ignition is on/engine running, and something is wrong. Oil pressure, temp etc... There are a few things that would trigger it.

As far as it staying on, if you have ruled out the potential for problems, tracking down the actual horn shouldn't be tough. I'm not sure disconnecting it would be a good idea though.
