I have a 1967 Johnson 80hp, finally got it to start, but after it runs for a while I can restart it fine two or three times. Then I let it sit for 10-20 minutes and it will attempt to start, but never will until about an hour later.
Any ideas, I'm using the Clymers Manual but it doesn't really seem to help in that manner...

Yes, it seems to be mainly when it warms up. If I leave it running it appears to run indefinitly. I can start it a couple more times, then it will just turn over and not fire, it may sputter every now and then. If I let it sit for about an hour, it will start right up.
I even loosened up the bowl on the bottom of the carb out of courisity, replaced it and then too, it fired right up.
I truly believe it is something very simple, but this is quite new to me. I guess a new motor would have been a different story! :(

I have delt with some motors that require a different starting procedure like a hot start for a warmed engine. You may try leaning the mixture and increasing the throttle once it gets warmed up to start it again. good luck
