I have a 50hp Mercury outboard that hasnt been run in AT LEAST five years, maybe more and it was winterized. What procedures should I go through and/or what sequences shoul I do so as not to cause damage to this motor when trying to start it?

Re: Engine Startup Question

Pull out the plugs and squirt fogging oil down each hole and turn the flywheel by hand to get the oil into each cylinder and lube everything up..you can use too much as it will burn off when you fire it up...Sea foam is a great product to use to decarbonize a two stroke motor.. I do it anually...be careful where you do it as the exhaust will stain a garage door if it is in front of it...
