Engine stopped charging, any ideas ??

twin 7.4 big blocks Merc. port engine charges fine 14.5 volts to battery, starboard alternator putting out 14.4 volts but it doesn't get to the battery which just shows the standard 12 volts. Dash gauge also shows 0 volts charging. Any ideas ??

Check your connections -- specially the grounds.

Ayuh,..... The alternator charge wire meets the battery cable at the big stud on the starter,......

It's probably broken, or corroded,.....

Get a hand held voltmeter and find out of its the boat gauge issue or the alternator issue
