There should be a constant stream of water out the back. Do you have the tank vent open?

Sometimes electrical components are affected by heat and will malfunction after running the engine for a while. You really have to do some troubleshooting when it happens to determine what you don't have, fuel, spark or compression.

Re: engine stops after 30 min

welcome to iboats!

Had this motor long, and has it been like this since you got it?
Any other symptoms at all?
What maintenance has been done to it recently?
When it dies, is the fuel line still pressurized?

first: make sure your fuel tank vent is open.

you ask "is it supposed squirt water out of the back all the time or not" - I don't think that motor has a tell-tale (pee stream) - is there a water outlet nipple on the lower motor cover, starboard side? If so it should always have a good strong steady stream ~ if it has the telltale but water stops coming out, don't run the motor until you figure out why. Some water will exit throught the exhaust relief ports (two holes just under the engine cover) but sometimes that'll just be a mist.

You have an overtemp alarm; test it by locating the temp switch near the top of the cylinderhead in back, it's got a tan wire coming off it. The tan wire has a sleeve a few inches from the switch - peel back the sleeve to expose the metal, and touch it to the engine block while the key is "on" - the alarm should sound. If it doesn't, don't run the motor again until you find out why.

A compression test will tell you if you've caused any internal damage by running it hot.
