Engine swap 3.7 for a 3.0lx? Has anybody done it?

I have a bad crank on my 3.7, for my 88 IMP 22fish (3000 lbs).I have a 3.0lx
93' turn key ready. will it work on the same outdrive Iam not sure of the ratio. but it's a alpha 1. will my boat plane. Has anybody done a similar swap.

The two engines aren't even close to the same except they are a 4 cylinder. The 3.0 is a Chevy, the 3.7 is a Mercruier aluminum block with issues and a 460 ford head. The 3.0 is about 130-140hp and the 3.7 is 170-190.
The exhaust systems hook to the transom shield with completely different pipes that may not hook up to the 3.7 (aka 470) transom shield. The gear ratio's are different, and just changing props will not cure the problem.
Basically if you did make the swap on that size boat, you would not be a happy camper.
