engine swap

i have a 92 chaparral with a 3.0 mer. i/o. in it right now...i have a 5.0 ford engine i wanna put in it...anyone ever done this before ? any advice ? no ford cracks from the chevy guys!!

None of the out drive components are compatible, and I doubt the mounts will line up................that and the drive itself is the wrong gear ratio for a V8. You would be better off with a donor boat.

Like the captain says don't waste your time!!! If you could find an OLD Mercruiser 888 I believe they have Fords.
I like Ford just not in my boat.Jerry

Nothing wrong with a 888 system. I still have half of one still sitting around here some where. Drop the 302 and ad a 351W and now you are talking.

thanks for the advice...the only reason i was considering doing it is cause i have a mustang drag car collecting dust right now...the motor has had a ton of add ons and 150 shot of nitrous that seems to help..lol..didnt know if it was something that could be done with a few mods or if it was a major undertaking..didnt know much about the outdrive compatibility .i love my boat but just like my pops said when i bought it."your gonna want a v-8.." i would love to be able to open up the exhaust but im pretty sure if i did it to the 3.0 it would sound like crap? and being able to fly across the lake at 60+ mph would be nice....

i guess that ill hold off a bit , save some cash and get something with a v8 and sling some parts.....anybody ever heard a 3.0 with open exhaust ?

Naw,..... Not even That good......The 3.0l don't spin fast enough.....
