engine swap

Does anyone know if the tins from a 454 mercruiser can be switched over to a 502 mercruiser. If so does that include the intake manifold and the distributor. I'm thinking of repowering my boat and was considering the 502's. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ayuh,.... The 454, 'n the 502 are from the same basic blocks, but there may be generational differences....

OK, thanks bond-o, bubba. I know I would end up with more horsepower and torque from the 502 so would that mean I could maybe get a little better fuel consumption. I'm just thinking that I may be able to get on plane with my 3600 martinique with a little less rpm, am I on the right track or wishful thinking.
