Engine system check/adapter harness

Changing from a '95 115 to a '96 130. The 115 uses the old red plug; I have found the adapter harness (0176349) to go from the boat's red plug to the newer motor. However, my question is that the harness description says it's for systems "without the system engine check". I am assuming this means that the adapter will not send signals to the warning lights, since I don't have any warning lights on my older gauges. Does the warning horn still work? I think I can live without the lights, especially if I write the horn modes down on the dash (it's an old boat :)

Also the adapter has an oil tank connection. Where does this go? The older boat-side harness has a separate oil tank connection, the oil tank has one, and the new motor appears to have one as well. That gives me four connectors :)

The 115 had no powerhead when I got it, so I don't know which wires went where. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Chris

Re: Engine system check/adapter harness

Chris, The four Systems that are Checked are: Low oil in the oil tank, no oil in the VRO, overheat of the motor (cylinder head sensor) and "Check Engine" which is a gasoline restriction at the VRO Pump(set off by a vacuum sensor on the gas line). The System check harness should have three plastic coated ring terminals which will operate a standard (non-system check) tacho. The wire colors are Purple (+12V accessory), Black (ground), grey (Tach sender).

Obviously you will want to hook up as many of the sensors as you can. I do not know the horn patterns, however. You should be able to hook up a warning horn, or for $100 you could get a System Check Tacho...
