OK took the boat to the lake yesterday for its maiden voyage after 6 months of restoration. Everything works better then advertized except for the engine temp. Ran it for at least an hour at all speeds. Engine never got hot. temp gauge never hardly moved. Large hose to water pump was warm to touch. Thermostat housing stayed cold. So whats up with that. It has a new thermostat. I am glad the motor does not over temp like most posts on this subject but it does make me wonder.

I am surprised no one has commented on this. It must be a one of a kind issue and belongs to me...

Well... I had the same issue... The thermostat was stuck open, but seeing as you just replaced yours that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe check the wiring to the gauge behind the dash, or check you temp sender. Or you could always check the thermostat again..

Re: Engine Temp

Put one of those cheap wire thermometers inside the hole (like what they sell for aftermarket cooling fans) and read the temp. You might just have corrosion on the stock temp sensor. Verify the temp instead of going by the gauge.

Re: Engine Temp

Buy a cheap infared temp gun ( $ 30.00 ) and check your block and manifolds with it. This will tell you what's going on.
