You answered your own question. If the motor is too heavy for the boat, you need a smaller motor. If the boat is rated for less than 100HP, legal liability is involved.

I have owned several boats equipped with the max HP and have never washed over the transom on a panic stop unless I was running in a following sea.

If indeed your motor is suited to your boat, maybe the hull is waterlogged and you need to fix the boat.

I am with Jim, if the boat is rated for that engine then something besides the engine is weighting it down and that is normally waterlogged foam.

Has it always done this or is it a recent thing or just since you put the huge engine on it?

When was the last time you pulled the plug and how much water came out?

And the kicker, is this boat actually rated for that much power??

1) Go slow enough not to create a wake
2) keep you feet up off the floor so they don't get wet
3) read the nameplate on your boat and don't exceed the recommended HP rating OR max load capacity
