I have been considering getting smart trim for my 28' Cabin cruiser. The only time my boat will list while planing is when my out drives are not trimmed correctly. When the out drive is too low it will tend to make the boat list on direction, and when it is too far up it will list the other direction. This only happens at speeds below 25 - 30 MPH, at speeds above 30 MPH the motor trim only affects the bow and the boat has no list at all.
I know that motors have to trimmed together, and that is what I do. Both out drives always have the same trim.
Considering the above information, are trims tabs something I should consider?
I am interested in putting on smart tabs since I don't believe I can really benefit from side to side trimming. I would like to make it easier to get out of the hole when running on only one engine and I would like to stop a slight porpoising effect at low planing speeds in moderate chop.
