Good afternoon. My husband and I have a bayline 1952 model capri 19.5 foot boat with a cuddy. We bought it second hand 2 summers ago. Last year the boat would not stay idleing and we got the carborator rebuilt. It wasn't too bad after that and got it out a couple of times. We had it winterized and now it runs not too bad but the problem is, when it gets up to temperature, you can not turn it off or it won't start again. It just floods after it's up to temperature and that's it. We just had it in the shop and they replaced the distributor cap, spark plugs and still the same problem exists. We took it out yesterday and ran it for a long time in order to get all the old gas out of it, then we filled it with new sepreme gas and still the same thing. We took it back to the boat shop and they can't find a problem with it but we can't go anywhere far from a dock or if we turn it off, we will be stuck. My husband trys to start it and you can smell gas and see that it is flooding. There is also some sort of wire they got him to check but that is fine as well, I'll try to find out the name. We have a fuel seperator incase there is water in the gas but that doesn't appear to be the problem? Any suggestions? Why would the boat work good and run for a couple of hours and then not start when we turn it off or to idle? Thank you.
