Been wondering if the constant use of Carbon Guard products mixed with gasoline will avoid or form less carbon layers on piston heads, cylinder head and exhaust system as well. that's what that specific product is intended for, has any one opened his powerhead to verify that really works well keeping carbon to a minimum to mentioned parts. Definitely not that internal mint cond as when Ob was new, right ?

Been using Engine Tuner sprays for some time at each 100 worked hours, now that have opened my powerhead after 600 hours of use found carbon layers formations on piston heads, upper internal head and exhaust system. Can't speak if more or less as opposed as not using them. Probably will form less carbon if applied at each 50 hours instead than recommended 100 hours. Why is it that on 2 cylinder, assume same on 3 cylinder OB's, the upper piston & cylinder head (1) always forms more carbon layers than lower ones ?

Nevertheless, find that once engine tuner is applied to a healthy regularly, OB regains its agility as not using it, thoughts, ideas ?

Using gasoline with lots of ethanol in it will help. :)

Carbon Guard was introduced to reduce the hard carbon buildup that started to appear in the first Ficht engines, Engine tuner was designed to soften carbon and burn/expel it. Using engine tuner on a Ficht, or other DFI engine can create problems. Non DFI engines were supplying fresh gas and oil to flush the engine tuner out of the bearings. DFI engines only pass air thru the crankcase with small squirts of oil, the engine tuner can wash what little oil there is off the conrod and crankshaft bearings. Fichts were quite nasty with carbon. Here is a pic of the cylinder head from my 98 150 with about 35 hrs on it. I was using Carbon Guard

Seems to work quite well regularly applied on carbed engines as seen on first posted pic. If your 35 worked hours OB has so much carbon build up, imagine never having used this product before. What happened to your OB for having cylinder head removed with such low hours use ?

It was getting news heads as part of an update that all 1998 150/175 Fichts got. Eventually OMC did another upgrade, a complete new powerhead
