Engine Weight / Transom Question

I have a Force 120HP, early 90s model (92 maybe?). Does anyone know the weight of this? Just wondering because I may swap out the Force and go with a Yamaha or Johnson. The engine is sitting on an 18' Maxum (rated for a 120HP).

I'm looking at a Yamaha 115 or Evinrude 115. Would this be appropriate for the boat you think?

Thanks everyone...

Re: Engine Weight / Transom Question

20" Leg: 300 lbs
25" Leg: 307 lbs
according to the Force operator's manual (1990)
I think the Maxum would take either of those without a problem...although I don't how they weigh in comparison.
Is your 120 Force giving you problems?

Re: Engine Weight / Transom Question

Your Force weighs 284 or 300 lbs depending on the year. Either one of those motors should work just fine.

Re: Engine Weight / Transom Question

BigPrairie, ya and I'm thinking of upgrading to a Yamaha or Honda if possible. I posted my latest problem (engine starting) on another post.

Right now I'm looking at an Evinrude that weighs 350lbs. Do you think the transom will be able to handle the extra weight? I just want to be sure, thanks in advance.

Thanks for the specs guys;
