Engine will not run

I have a 5.7l and when I bought her the prior owner told me she had issues when she was cold.

So on a cold start you have to pull her out into neutral and give her some non-drive throttle to get her going. Not been a big issue really.

Today we go out and she was a little rough being the first cruise, I suspect some bad/old gas. Then when I went to load her up she would not start for anything. I'd crank her in the cold start procedure but as soon as I went to engage the drive it would go dead.

Any ideas of things to do or check before it gets moved to the local shop?

Thanks in advance

So, I guess it is best to run it into the shop and get it checked out. While I am somewhat mechanical I honestly loath working on little engines.

Re: Engine will not run

I got out today and spent some time troubleshooting the issues.

Basically this is what I came up with.

Until the engine reaches 190 degrees on the temp gauge it does not want to idle unless it is being given power. Once it reaches that temp it will idle and run fine.

So what can I do to close the time it takes to reach this temp or is the a fluke?

Nice area you live in. I used to live in Calhoun. It could be as simple as a carb adjustment or choke adjustment. Have you ever done a tune-up on it( new points, plugs, filters etc)?

New filter, checked plugs and such. It runs perfect other wise once it is warmed up.
