Engine with Solid Tone

I have twin 200 HP Mercury Off Shore Engines. When I turn my key on for my port engine, it gives off a solid tone before starting it. And when I do start it, solid beep remains. When I turn my key on for the starboard motor, I get the beep, beep, beep and when I start the starboard motor, beep, beep, goes off. From what I recall from the forum responses, solid beep is heat related while multiple beeps is oil related. I did start the port engine and let run. Had good stream and never showed a problem on the temp gauge. Do these alarms go bad? Any ideas on what could cause the solid tone especially when I just turn the key to the on position (not turning the motor over).

tha solid beep on port probably (first choice) bad oiler module, if its still has oil injection, or bad over heat sensor... tha beep, beep, beep on tha starboard probably bad oil sensor ie: cap on motor tank or low oil in tank, rotation sensor or if its efi motor, water in fuel.... do you get tha right "self test beeps" when ya first turn tha key on?

Thanks for the note. Not EFI and still has the electronic Oil Injector (I replaced the original oil injector many years ago which is in my thread somewhere). I know when you turn your key on, there has always been the multiple beeps and then it goes quite. Starboard engines is doing that. But when I turn the key on the port engine, it goes solid tone and doesn't go off. Then if I turn the engine over and crank it, tone remains solid and won't go off. When at idle, both engines run exactly same temp with excellent stream. Just replaced the impeller and pump couple of years back. Seems to me it might be the "overheat sensor" if that would cause the tone to be solid when there is no indication of a heating issue. I assume that is on the block somewhere. I have a manual and can look.

Is it feasible to mix gas/oil when you have a 110 gallon fuel tank on your boat? If you could, would you remove the oil injector? Can an engine receive too much of an oil mix (guess it would foul the plugs??).

Also, I've had over 100 gallons of gas in my boat for about 9 months. Is there a good additive as I've been told this gas now has probably lost a lot of its strength.
