Johnson 90HP Outboard
Model# V4ML-11C
Serial #C437634
Motor was running and was idling quiet nicely. I then turned it off and was going to restart in 1/2 hour I put the key in and tried to turn motor over but the engine didn't start. Checked battery , ok, checked starter motor, by junping it, ok. Checked soliond, ok. (Actually bought a new one)
No response at all when I turn the key, could it be the ignition switch?
Open to any other ideas.

Do you mean the engine won't start, or it won't crank over?

He mean's it doesn't do anything now, not even a click, out of the solenoid. I was with him, trying to get it to start. The starter is fine when we jumped it. My buddy then bought a new solenoid, but guess from what he says, it didn't fix it. Should the big wire on top of the solenoid have 12 volts to it when the key is off. It shows 12 volts on or off with the key. WAS THINKING MAYBE IT'S IN HIS NEUTRAL SWITCH.

Re: Engine won't start

I once had the shifting linkage come loose where it attaches to the motor after tilting the motor and it wouldn't start until I messed about with it. Like bucksaw said check to make sure the motor is in neutral and make sure all of the cables are connected correctly

There is a fuse in the starter circuit. If it blows you will have nothing from the key switch. Look for a red fuse holder on the port side of the engine.
