Re: engine year

I've got the same question! Just bought a merc 9.8. The seller didn't know the year. I've found the serial # 6041981. Is that enough?

Did you know that the marinshopen site does not take into consideration that ?

USA No are 5***** and 6*****
but
Australian Nos 8********
European Nos 9********
Canadian Nos 7********

There are Blue,Brown, and Red Bands in all horsepowers.
I'm convinced that NOBODY really knows the years made. :(
