Engines missing at full throttle.

My Evinrude 115 / 1998 (carburated, not Ficht) really ticked me off this last weekend. I've recently replaced the spark plugs and am using quality fuel in order to combat this problem. It occurs sporadically when the motor is at full throttle. Sounds and feels like a cylinder miss. The motor slows for a brief second and then the rpm's pick right back up instantly. However, at med to slow speeds it purrs effortlessly. There's no fuel injectors, therefore I'm at a loss for what to do? All help is appreciated.

it is sounding, like you are either dropping a cylinder, either a coil heating up and failing. or you may have a fuel restriction, check and see if your fuel line primer bulb is collasping when it does this. would indicate and partially clogged fuel tank vent. it also could be a weak fuel pump, not keeping up. are you running a feul/water separating filter? no need to run high octane fuel, 89 is plenty. do not add octane boosters either, adding seafoam help keep clean carbs clean.

I had the same problem with my 1996 112. It cleared up completely after I replaced the fuel pump. You could have the same issue.
