My wife works at a school was assultuted and pressured to press charges so the school district could get a no trespass order But exposes my wife's name to an unstable career criminal that has a reputation for stalking and retretribution. Advice from the sheriff have your cameras on and external lights on, kidding me?

Was she assaulted at the school? If he is a career criminal good chance he is on some sort of parole and an arrest could be made. Tough situation. If he is the type that seeks revenge I would get her some pepper spray that she can keep on her. I would have some fire power at the ready at the house. A dog is also a great warning system.

Is the career criminal associated with the school somehow? Can you trespass at both school and home and or general restraining order? You are here in the stares, correct?

It was a parent, a woman. My works in the office there are two doors 1 is the entrance the 2nd is the secure door. People have to sign in to get past that door, the woman tried to sneak thru my wife did her job and prevented her and got assaulted for it. In talking to the police she was told this woman is unstable, the woman struck a cop last week. My wife was told to drive a different car, make sure the cameras at home are working, keep the door locked and the outside lights on.

If my wife were to take out a RO it would be giving the nut job our home address. My wife had the school remove her from the staff directory, and low online presence.

First - was there any action/support from the school? The school is reponsible for the safety and welfare of the students as well as the staff.

Personally, I would contact a lawyer (normally every lawyer will give a short no-cost advice coordinated thru legal aid) and seek legal advice.

The school could be placing your wife at risk if they fail to intervene.

Stay diligent and get the wife a can of pepper spray to start. Depending on what State you are in - the laws vary.

We have cameras and motion activated lights but when my wife got nervous about the possibility of someone coming around because I had them arrested, I loaded the gun and made sure she knew how to use it.

The school and the police pressured my wife to press charges. So the school is now protected the woman can not be on school property. My wife has nothing she can't even bring her hand gun on the drive to work and leave it locked in the car on school property. My wife is highly pissed that she was used by the school.

A pissed wife is a scary thing to behold! I don't blame her for being pissed, but it sounds like pressing charges is the right thing to do in the long run. What sucks is that you have to be vigilant in the short run and make sure that lady assaulter stays in her lane. If she assaulted a police officer last week, that usually gets pushed through the system pretty quickly. With another assault charge on her case, that only helps get the lady the help she needs (incarceration, mental health help, etc. ... whatever the court deems necessary).

While I do understand your and your wife's position, I also believe that in the end your wife will be safer for pressing the charges.

Why did your wifes name get bought into it ? Surely the school can tresspass someone for inappropriate / aggressive behaviour without having to name a staff member .... or if a name has to be provided it should be the headmaster or governing board members .
I think your wife has been treated poorly and should not have been pressured her to make an official complaint .......thats just a cop out by both the school and the police.
Here we have a "constructive dismissal " which basically means the employers action or lack there of makes continued employment unviable and the employee has no choice but to resign, and the employer can be sued .
A stressful time for you both , I hope you get things sorted

How big is your school district? Could she be transferred to another building temporarily till this nut faces the music. These days they don’t tolerate people that assault someone in a school and take care of it pretty fast.

My wife was told by the police that if she did not press charges there could be nothing done to the assaulter even though the woman trespassed into the school. By pressing charges my wife's name will appear in the documents.

I have already done my research I know where the woman lives, I know what vehicles they drive. I am prepared.

Mark what state are you living in? It sounds as if they want your wife to pursue a restraining order which is an excellent idea. People who are subject to a restraining order will not be permitted to own or purchase firearms.

AND...... if a distance restriction is placed upon that childlike woman a restraining order (stalking order called by many names) then your wife is safe even if she is out and about.

While this may seem harsh........ your wife can be an instrument in preventing any future attacks on her AND upon others.

Mark, listen to Bob ... he has law enforcement experience and his wife trains the state police and sets policy in their state for women in violent situations. There is a lot of knowledge in his words on this subject.

I agree that taking the legal steps is a very good idea.

But also take physical precautionary steps. A piece of paper in a courthouse won't stop an actual attack. Happens all the time.

Stay safe. :sneaky:
