For tubing and even basic skiing you should be fine. My 14' with a 18 can pull a skier or a tube. ;)

forty hp is one thing,200 lbs yanking on the transom through waves is another. but i guess i depends on the size of the person, im six foot 275 and would serve as an anchor if i was behind that boat, i towed tubes with my 15 footers with 70's and they struggled with a larger person especially. through waves you could feel the tube pulling back and the boat jerking around. i dont imagine a 9.9 getting on plane easily or steering well. maybe its just me,

try it and let us know.

Shoot yea you have the power to pull a tube. You've also got the power to pull up a skier on double ski's. I just hope the tube doesn't pull your boat sideways, as there won't be much boat in the water.

I just say try it to see if you're comfortable doing it.

Re: Enough power to pull a tube?

I learned to ski behind a 14' with a 35hp. It takes a little work on the skiers part, but can be done. Though, a good tug from the skier can yank the stern around. Used to get into tug-of-wars with my dad driving for fun :D

It'll pull a tube, but probably the heavier the rider the more difficult time you'll have with it. It's not the optimum rig for tubing, but if you're wanting to pull the kids for a little bit it'll do it. If you're looking for those "give 'em a headache and put their stomach in their ankles" types of turns that'll send your 16 YO skipping across the water ... prob'ly not.

We've even pulled the little kids behind a 9.9hp - it worked for a starter.

Shouldn't be a problem. I've skiied and tubed behind a 14' with an 18 hp.
