Enricher, Fuel Pump, or Oil Injector???

I just put a 1996 Merc 60HP Bigfoot on my old Starcraft cuddy to push it around the lake. The motor was purchased from a shop and I was told that the oil injector had been blocked off and the warning buzzer disconnected. I heard it run at the shop and it sounded great. I mixed 50:1 in the tank and off we go for a test run today.<br /><br />The motor ran fantastic for about an hour and a half then the buzzer went of--engine dies---fuel all over the inside of the cowling, I mean puddles--and all 3 cylinders real flooded. I had tools with me so I took the plugs out, dried them and tried to restart. Kept flooding. Hmmmm? <br /><br />Anyway here's what I found.<br /><br />1. The small amount of oil that was in the oil tank had vanished. With 50:1 in the tank no big deal.<br /><br />2. With the fuel line unkooked from the engine I could get it to start and it actually ran great once the flooding had burned off.<br /><br />3. When I reattached the fuel line when it was running, about 8 seconds afterwards fuel would start shooting out what looks like fuel jets on the side of the carbs.<br /><br />4. Then to top it off, the starter selenoid decided to stick in the on position.<br /><br />Well with my wife at the controls and me leaning over the back of the boat feeding gas to the motor by plugging the fuel feed in to the motor and then as soon as a little started to come out the holes on the side of the carbs, unplugging it we made it back to the docks.<br /><br />Oh, by the way, I had to start it by using the battery disconnect switch which I just happened to mount within convenient reach of the motor. I'm really glad you don't have to have a battery hooked up to have this motor run like some of the older ones. <br /><br />Any ideas, clues, or visions in the crystal balls where I might start looking for the cause of the excessive fuel??<br /><br />At least we didn't have to back across the lake, but that's other adventures.<br /><br />Thanks
