I wonder how many homes could be built with the salvaged lumber from that one?

Looks like that thing could sink or disable a large ship!...I've heard there's all kinds of hazardous stuff, like shipping containers and similar floating in the middle of the world's oceans!:eek:

My goodness! I think the prop foul is the last thing to worry about with that thing floating who knows how high out of the water.

Re: Epic driftwood: Monster tree washes ashore

It looks as if that thing has been in the water a long time. I've seen many smaller, but still large logs or whole trees in the rivers around here. Sometimes very little if any of them above the surface.:eek:. I heard of a man, pre-fishing a bass tounament on the Roanoke river, who hit one at high speed w a fast bassboat. The big outboard kicked up and flew into the front of the boat, flipping the boat in the process. The controls and steering did not break. The captain was hit in the shoulder and injured, but luckily his teamate could not make it that day. The captain said he surely would have been killed by the flying outboard if he was seated beside him.

That's not a big tree, I think she's just a really small girl.

That old growth Redwood is no doubt worth over a $100K. Quite a business chasing them. Many are marked as to ownership. If on public land, it may be just left.

Nice example of a Pacific Northwest Tree.....as soon as I saw it I knew it was from this neck of the woods.;)
They are still out there and most of the original 'old growth' trees of this size are protected from logging.
Here is another pic I took at a local campsite just up island a bit. Note the size of the tree vs. the 3/4ton Dodge....which you could probably hide behind the tree (with the mini-van too maybe?).
I was with a buddy of mine from Ontario....and it completely stopped him in his tracks when he saw it...and it wasn't the only one around.:eek:
All Good
BP:cool::)

Looks like something you'd find in Calaveras Big Tree State Park....
