Erratic Tach.

Cruising at low RPMs the tach needle will temporarily jump sharply. Then return to normal. It will do that sporadically. I also notice that my volt meter reads around 16 volts at higher RPMs. It will come down to 14 volts when I turn the running lights on, and stay there at all speeds. Running lights off, and up it goes. Any thoughts?

You probably have a bad connection somewhere. But it nice to know what motor you are talking about.

HelloIBNFSHN,<br />You're right..... that is a stupid question.<br />I have a '87 3cyl 50HP Mariner.I don't cook any water out of the battery with the high charging, so I rally have'nt a clue. I get the high reading with a volt meter at the batt. also.
