hi i have an oldish 20 hp twin<br />it wont take full throtal..just dies<br />unless i give half choke<br />so i presume fuel problem<br />there dosent seem 2 be a main jet?<br />how do i check the fuel level?<br />there is a lg screw on the top of carb[mixture ajustment]i think...how do i set this<br />what else should i look for? fuel tank and pipe is new...lead replacment petrol ok?...50/1 oil mix<br />thx for any help guys

Yes, Niander. You have a fuel problem.<br /><br />It is possible that you have a problem with the fuel supply or the fuel pump, but I think it is more likely to be your carburetor.<br /><br />Post the model number of your engine here, so we can identify the year.<br /><br />Then get a Repair Manual.<br /><br />Once you have the Manual you need to dismantle and clean your carburetor, an overhaul is probably a good idea.<br /><br />Let us know. :)

206B62-206B63 20 HP 1976 <br />No free manuals on the net, there is a link below. It is worth the money.<br />50:1 fuel/oil mix<br />No lead is required for two strokes.

you'll find some shiney plugs on the block, about the size of a quarter. there will be two sets of numbers on these plugs, the model number and the serial number. likely these will correspond to 2 number of the ID plate attached to the mounting bracket.<br /><br />Good Luck

i went out today but had to be towed back in!<br />it wouldnt go into gear...but actualy the prop<br />is just spinning on the shaft<br />there is a nut do i have to lock the motor to un do it and how do i lock the motor?<br />will i find a broken key in there or what?<br />when she was running there was an anoing banging<br />but i think its just missfireing...is this a common prob with outboards<br />thx guys

actualy the banging will of been the prop comeing loose? :confused:

ok loose prop = no probs just a broken pin :) <br />do u think thats what the banging was?<br />i notice there should be oil at the bottom what sort of oil[is normal gear oil ok?]<br />thx guys

go to your friendly neighborhood boat store. tell the man what you've got and he'll recomend a Lower Unit grease for you. it'll be a marine grade gear oil.
