OK guys I'm assuming the Eska 15 very likely comes with one basic prop.
Can anyone tell me what size they have noted and if any other sizes are
actually available.
I stumbled on Brix Enterprises Apparently have Eska parts You guys probably allready know about them.
Any experience with them? I emailed about the prop size. They do list "a" prop for the 15. but no size listed
on the site.
Heard back from Brix;they said originally there were 2 sizes unknown what they were.
Their catalog says the available prop is a 8 1/4 X 12 fits 9.9 and 15.
As you may know the 9.9 and 15 are the same displacement. So its ;likely the 9,9 is just a choked down 15.

my notes show a 11 for the 9.9 & 13 for the 15hp was what shipped from the factory, I know the prop on my 15 will interchange with my 7.5 deluxe which has a 11p or so I think, anyway the cut is completely different on the 15 but they will interchange...I need to try that sometime.

hp difference is the size of the jet in the float bowel nut

Re: Eska 15 prop

Thanks.
I assume the jet would be smaller on the 9.9 but wouldn't that make motor run lean unless the venturi was smaller or some other restriction?

Re: Eska 15 prop

the only dif I can see on the emissions carb is the power jet size from the 7.5-15hp other than linkage, venturi's seem to be the same but I can't swear to the other jets sizes behind the welch plugs.

the 15 has a monster jet compared to the 7.5

ok i'm a hijacker on this one.mr crabs am i following this correctly that if i change the high speed jet in my carb "float bowl nut" that i can turn my 9.9 into a 15 hp eska? if thats the case then what jet do you replace it with? I am thoroughly impressed with your knowledge on these outboards. thanks narwhals.

Re: Eska 15 prop

As I read the specs, the bore and stroke is all the same, I'm not sure but to my best knowlage the 9.9 & 15hp use a rotory valve as a reed, I have never been into one but Eska boasted of a rotory valve way back when....and its fairly obvious concernng the power jets....the bigger thy are the more fuel is pulled up and through the intemediate and high speed jetting behind the welch plug...thus I believe??? LOL

EDIT: I just check part numbers for a 9.9 & 15hp float bowl nut, and rechecked bore and stroke & all dimensions...all the same from the 9.5, 14hp , 9.9 and the 15hp

9.9
Nut, float bowl
PART NUMBER: 631833

15HP
Nut, float bowl
PART NUMBER: 631811

That was "Lawn mower on a stick" LOL My 15hp has a replacement prop marked 8 1/4 X 12 so I'm not sure about there ever being a 13p prop but I swear I read it....

Re: Eska 15 prop

hi mr crabs,i've been searching for the 631811 bowl nut and not having any luck on it.brix enterprises e-mailed me back and said the part number was no good and that by simply changing the bowl nut it would not increase hp because the carbs are different.i gave him my model number 14210F 384A he says carb is 632063B w/bowl nut 632361. also says that 14211E 385 was the 15hp w/ carb 632056A and bowl nut 632400 so by changing the bowl nut i won't get additional hp bummer.needless to say i'm quite confused about all the numbers and if i'm on a wild goose chase. i don't doubt any of the info you have given me,so if you have time can you review what i got back from brix enterprises. i sure would love to get 5 extra hp for replacing the bowl nut. thanks narwhals

Re: Eska 15 prop

I've been wrong before but like I said the only dif I can find is linkage's and the 2 part choke butterfly setup...of course jetting behind the welch plug may be larger but I ask you this????if all other specs for the 9.9 & 15 are the same...and they are, wouldn't the hp gain have to be in the carb?,
I may get around to making some measurements on the venturi of a 7.5 and the 15 today and do some pics, I'm also working on my Stoller type single module design prototyp that hangs inline....I ran into a diffrenet PCB design than Ed used in his Eska single PDF at the Yahoo group so I'm going to be doing some testing on that to find the end of the C1 closest to the trigger , Its to hot to go fishing today so I plan to hang out under the shade tree.

PS, I doubt Mr. Brix has ever really used a Eska for anything but to make a buck, I do know the gentleman and he is a nice guy so no disrespect intended, and I'm sure the carb numbers just denote the various linkage setups that were used from year to year and I am for sure that the power jet is larger on the 15than the 9.9

Re: Eska 15 prop

i agree about the the bigger jet getting more hp as i know on lawn mowers 5 hp are now 6.75 and all they did was change the jet, everything is the same. i'll keep searching for the jet and try the experiment to see what happens. going up north to do a little musky fishing in a couple weeks so i don't want to screw anything up before i go without testing it first.thats where all the problems started last year with the eska until you helped me figure out that stupid little pump element.no more exxon valdez. i'm taking my father in law out tomorrow fishing, hope the fish are biting and not jumping all around the boat.its almost like the fish are laughing at us. lol.
