I bought a boat motor with a Tecumseh power head a couple of years ago and was told that it is a 3.5 hp ESKA and I am trying to find the specs for setting the points, fuel mixture and carb kit. The only number I can find is on the metal tag on the mounting bracket which is 87 300990. Can anyone tell me who made this unit or is there somewhere else on the motor that a model number can be located? Thanks

Re: Eska 3.5?

Eska was built by Eska probably ceased production around 1985 or 86.
model number is usually four numbers later models followed by a letter ie: 1703A
certified parts corp may have parts.Point gap is .018 for for Type 642-01-thru 642-07B,642-08A thru 642-10,643-01 thru 643-05A,643-06 thru 643-09 and 643-15.All others are .020.Some motors are solid state.Don't have points.I couldn't find where the type number appears but somewhere on the power head.
If you read through the Eska threads I think you'll find the Eska a questionable investment. We'll be glad to help you try to get her going but::::
