eska 5hp not running right

I have an eska 5 hp model 14140c. it starts and runs but takes a long time to idle down and when idling it will suddenly just run away and die. Thought float mite be stuck, is ok. anyone have any ideas?

If the rpm go up and then it dies, kind of sounds like not enough fuel, or too much air. Trash in the carb's filter screen will do that, so will trash in the small fuel passages in there. If you don't have the red fuel pump element in there with the ends of its slot pointed at 2 and 8 o'clock, it won't be able to move enough fuel. Also, if it's split or torn, same thing. It can be hard to see those splits , too - I'll roll it between my fingers with a magnifying glass.
