I think im in the right place.
I wondered what use is the "Ground Screw" which is under the ssi. If we screwed it comes in contact with a small flexible piece of metal connected to the module. We put them in contact or not?
No sparks with or without contact. I would try to put it back in working order in my spare time.
I was already told that was probably faulty ssi.
it's like a little challenge I gave myself
and above all it is clean like new,,, almost
Carb is rebuild with a new complete kit
Next its the ssi I suppose
Thank you,
(sorry for my english, I use a translater, I think its not so bad):p

Re: Eska 7.0 hp

I realized that the ground screw is to turn off the engine with the handle, sorry for this beginner question:redface:
Now I managed to repair the ssi using the technique explained on earthlink edstoller site, with the capacitor / diode outside the module... Success, it works!:)
But another problem, the clutch does not work:facepalm:
I think the spring is broken and remains neutral.
And it makes a noise if I put forward ...and no clutch, no cooling.
I do not think it's worth the cost and time to replace the clutch with another old one.
I had thought to put direct drive by welding.
Good idea or not? What do you think of this idea for a 7hp?
I am afraid that is difficult to start.
I hesitate between making soldering or replace if I can find one for cheap

Re: Eska 7.0 hp

Congratulations on your SSI repair, I would weld the clutch up for now. The motor might be tuff to start cold but well tuned it should crank one or two pulls once it has warmed up. I start my clutch shift Eska in gear alot when out on the water....makes for a fast get away from River barges....lol
