Hi Everyone,

As a long time lurker first off just wanted to say thanks to everyone here, this is a great site and I've already gotten a lot of help without even having to ask a question.

However, now I do need some help, as I did something pretty stupid.

I'm in the process of getting an older Eska (gamefisher) back into running condition after sitting for about 10 years in my Dad's garage.

In the process of taking the carb apart to give it a good cleaning/rebuild, I broke off one of the two fuel inlet nipples. I'll try to attach a picture that better shows what I'm talking about.

So, I am just wondering if anyone would know where I could possibly buy a replacement part, or if there's any way to plug that hole ?

I don't need both inlets as I don't plan to ever use the onboard tank.

Thankfully I do have the manual for the motor, according to it, the part # from the diagram in my book is 631556, "Valve Cover Assembly".

But unfortunately my google-fu is unable to find anywhere on the web that might actually have that part in stock.

Also the model # of my motor is 217.585751, which I believe makes it an early 80's model, and at the top of my diagram it says this is carb assembly # 632120, if that helps any.

If I can't find one, I was wondering if perhaps I could use a tap/die, thread that hole out, and just plug it with a machine screw and some lock-tite or something ?

Anyhow, just wanted to get some opinions of you guys that have a lot more knowledge than I do about all of this.

Thanks in advance for any replies !

Welcome to the iboats.com forum! As you have already learned, the experts here which I am not can help you solve any problems. One of "them" should be along any minute with answers to your questions. My first reaction would be to fill the hole with JBWeld or grey Marine Tex as long as you are certain the remaining nipple will function properly for your needs. Good luck!

I'd tap it and plug it with a screw and loc-tite. One of those nipples is for the onboard tank line, the other is for a remote. Those nipples have a reputation for falling out. There's nothing wrong with a slug of fuel resistant garp of some kind to plug it, I'm just biased towards machine screw threads and loc-tite. You are unlikely to find a new one of those covers new, but it's probably worth noting that a cover with a single nipple will work there, too. Matter of fact, I may have a two nipple cover in my parts bin if it's a big deal to ya.
