I have been trying to get info on this old motor for some time now. This is all the info I have so far:
Eska Co., Inc
Model #200
Serial #9224
It has a decal on the front- "Herters 5.1 cu. in." I also found that the bottom half of it is a Clinton rig. I was almost able to start it after replacing the Tecumseh power head parts, but now I have found that the choke butterfly is not working properly. It is getting a spark and it runs for a short time when I put gas directly into the engine. The gas is not getting to the engine! It looks like it is missing something, as the chokes butterfly shaft is threaded (to accept a screw). Does any one have any idea?
Also, I'm trying to find out what year it was made and what the name & horsepower is and proper gap settings? Thanks in advance, Joe

Re: Eska outboard? Need to I.D. motor. Carburetor problem

Hi Joe,
I see a manual up for auction in E-bay for outboards under 30hp.It has 200 plus pages and supposedly covers Eska as well as many other models also.(item#1852179249)
Go to parts/accessories,Boats and Watercraft,Motors and parts, manuals. If you do a search, check both boxes in search window.
NEW INFO HERE JOE:From "THE OLD OUTBOARD BOOK"
The first Eska motors were relabeled stock purchased from Clinton Engines Corp.Maquoketa,Iowa. Eska started in 1960.The mod.#200 most likely means 2 hp...
Does the powerhead look like a lawnmower engine or does it have a squarish cowl?? :)

Thanks for the reply. The powerhead does look like a lawnmower engine and as a matter of fact, I got the replacement parts for the power head at a local Tecumseh lawnmower dealer. If it is in fact a lawn mower power head, does that mean they should also be able to supply me with the carb parts as well? Thanks in advance. Joe

hey joe
unrelated, but i had an eska 9.5 i think around 1970-72. one of the "coils??" went (under flywheel) and i had one heck of a time finding parts. went all over ebay, called old outboard dealers all over north america and nothing. finally half-arsed repaired it myself and unloaded the motor quickly. if yours is points it may be better.
LM

Hi, Joe.

I suspect (I don't really know) that the powerhead on your Eska is the Tecumseh AH51. It was used on lawnmowers with an aluminum rod and sleeve bearings, but in chainsaws used steel rods, needle bearings and roller mains. The C.R. was also higher in the chainsaw version.

The lawnmower version was 2.5hp and the chainsaw 5hp or 7.5hp. If your carb is a float type with gravity feed from an integral tank you can get a replacement or overhaul kit at a lawnmower shop. The chainsaw engine used a diaphram carb with built in fuel pump. It had a larger venturi.

I hope that helps. :)

Eska built a 200 in 62 4hp.@ in bore X 1 5/8 St. 5.1 cu. in.uses a V51 Tecumseh power head.Champion J8J(J8c?) plug set at .030,points set sat .020.Leg is water cooled.Using a simpler tube to take water from prop to top of leg.Water mists out the relief holes.16:1 fuel mix.Regular outboard gear lube in the gear case.No doubt Eska built the motor for Herters.

Does the motor have a separate fuel tank and hose? If so I would suspect that the little duckbill fuel pump bladder which is in the carb has probably disintegrated by now. duck bill001.jpg A common problem but new ones are available.
