I have a 1974 Ted Williams 7.5HP model 217-58850 Outboard motor.
I'm trying to replace the prop shaft oil seal.
I removed the bottom cap from the gear housing and started to drive out the roll pins from the bevel gear on the prop shaft, according to my service manual.
But I was only able to drive it part way until it stopped. And now I can not rotate the prop shaft, because I assume the roll pin is hitting the case. So, I cannot drive the roll pin back in either.
How do I resolve this problem without destroying something?
I suppose I could drill out the roll pin. But is there a better way?
Please see the attached picture.
Thank you.

Ok. It's soaking now. Will see what happens tomorrow.
Thank you.
I used an impact driver. Screws came right out.
Now, what is the secret to removing the grease seals? My Eska Mechanics Service Manual simply states "remove the drive shaft seal and the propeller shaft seal". But how do you do it without damaging anything? Do you drive them out from the inside? Or pull them out from the outside? Is a special tool needed?

Generally if you have new seals the thing to do is either pry them out or drive them out from the backside if you have access. New ones tap in very gently a little on the edges as you go around until flush, or use the old seal on top of the new to drive it in. Use a bit of gear oil smeared around edge with your finger before installing. If this sounds complicated you can try a local machine shop. Sometimes they may help you out while you wait for a little cash.

I was able to pry them out. I'm waiting for the water pump seal to arrive, then I'll try your tips for installing them. Thank you very much!
