Seems like Eska's are pretty popular in this forum! I have a 1973 9.5 and I'm wondering what are the correct spark plugs for this engine? I was wondering if I could use the gap-less plugs my Mercury 7.5 uses? In my reseach is appears the impeller in my `75 Mercury 7.5 will fit the Eska?
Thanks!

Re: Eska spark plugs water pump

Bet ya $1.50 it's an RJ13YC. I use Merc impellers in my 7.5 Sears/ Eska, because Boatsportandtackle.com charges twice as much if I call it an Eska impeller. Is that a 1925A? What's the model#? I wouldn't know a gapless plug if I was beat with a sock full of'em. I do fear the wrong plug, though, because when I was a kid, this deek I knew put the wrong plug in his scooter and burned a hole in the piston. Are you after plugs because you got no spark? If you are, and you have a solid state ignition instead of points, it ain't the plugs, it'll be the stator. Fear not, however, I know a guy.

EDIT: boy was I wrong....it no Y
Plug should be a RJ12c .....no Y

I'm usingt he RJ12y....no C on all my Eska engines now or the RJ14YC, the 14s are hotter, the 12 are easy to come by at any store that carries small engine stuff and work fine, I did notice the 1973 9.5 uses a 32:1 mix and the 1974 model uses 50:1

In Champion's parlance, the C refers to copper core. In later years, most all of their standard plugs have been labeled this way.

No, I have good spark, I broke the insulator by dropping one of my plugs and wanted to make sure I got the right plugs.
My Mercury outboards use a "gap-less" spark plug. There is no ground strap, and can't foul. I figured since this Eska has solid state igntion, it would be a good canidate for the gap-less plugs.

I just noticed the fuel ratio, Eska recommends 32:1 mix on a `73 9.5 engine?
