Hello!
As you may or may not know we are currently replacing the transom on our twin i/o, 29' Carter Safari. We have just about finished removal and should hopefully be buying the needed supplies soon. I realize that this is a very difficult thing to estimate, but was wondering if anyone knows approximately how much resin, cloth, etc. that we will be needing. The affected area is 8 feet wide by about 4 feet (the measurements are to the widest part and deepest) We will be using two, one inch sheets of ply. Thank-you very much for any help!
Included is a pic to give you an idea of what we are working with.

Re: Estimation on supplies quantity for transom please

hi navis.....two one inch are too thick after glass !

i think the max is 2 ins.....the safe zone is one and 3/4 inch.

for a transom......you will need a minimum 3 sheets of csm....and a full wrap of 1708 biax......(you dont need to use the 1708...you can go for a thinner product but the 1708 is easily aval where you are and it is a great product.)

take the width and height and multiply by 3 for the csm...and one for the transom cover. add 10 % extra for the bi ax so you will have good tabbing material left over.

5 gals of un waxed poly resin....1 gal of aceitone.......6 fuzzy rollers. and one handle....and the fiberglass working tool.....mekp....1L.

a paint tray and 6 liners.....a box of rubber disposable gloves.....

if i remember correctily, you are under age for the beer....so may i suggest a case of red bull! :D

send more pics.
cheers
