Now I know this is the Starcraft forum, but really that is what this about. Last summer my brother said he wanted to upgrade his old try hull, (Big mistake telling me) he said he wanted something in the 18' or larger arera. As anyone that follows the Clist thread knows I found him a real nice 18 SS in Minnesota, He made a trip of it and traveled the 3300 km round trip to bring home the new buy. Great boat has an Evenrude 115 that has a few running issues. Anyhow it died coming into the dock in the fall on his last run and he just loaded it up and brought it home. Now with the new season on the way he is getting the itch to get ready and thought the best way would be to just replace the 115 with a new ETEC pretty impressive motor, You have to watch this video as to how the ETEC 225 just eats a 225 Yamaha four stroke in a tug of war. http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Videos/Etec-challenges/Tug-of-war. Anyhow back to my story, The new Etec 115 HO will run him about $12500.0 installed with controls and everything (OUCH). So me being the good older brother I am told him about the I/O vs O/B thread and the associated costs, including the price of a complete new 3.0 mercruiser, and now the search is on He missed out on an I/O 18'SS 150km away for $900.00 because he talked with me after the fact. So if you are looking on Clist and find an 18" or larger SS with an I/O (others than an OMC) that is not a million miles from me, let me know, and remember we are bottom feeders as well.
Thanks Glen

Hey Jas I just did the google map thing and it is only 2350 k from my place to yours. If you find something I will see if the wife wants to go on a Sunday drive, and make it back the next Sunday:facepalm: My pick up gets 16mpg so it would only cost me $1000.
for gas +++
Thanks for the offer

I agree an 18' starcraft could scale back to a 90hp real easy.
Depending on what you want to use the boat for, if you just want a fishing boat no water sking you could probably go with a 50hp.

Re: Etec

Ez, those prices are a little better than up here but not much. I think he has got the (NEW Motor) out of his head and is going to do the carbs and take the O/B to the city and have it tuned up. We will look for an 18' to 20' SS I/O that is in need of some TLC for a next winter project for him.
