Re: ethanol ok?

In some places that's all we can get. I had some fuel line degradation, so if I were you I'd check hoses, gaskets, & diaphrams. Good Luck, Joe

If the engine has lived on non-ethanol based fuel and you are just starting to use corn-squeezins, you will likely have it cleaning up the fuel system which unfortunately clogs filters and carb jets and loosens gunk in the carbs. It won't hurt the engine unless you start having performance or running problems and don't tend to it immediately. Clogged jets mean lean fuel mixtures. Keep a clean fuel filter and do the carbs if it begins to act up.

Hmmm i have a 1975 merc 85hp, the manual says to avoid "gasohol" which is like 30% ethanol or higher, i used AMPM gas full of ethanol and have a slightly rough idle, which could very well be the timing, never thought about it knocking the gunk loose, could be my problem i guess
