Re: ethonal resistant fuel lines

Just buy OEM fuel lines and they will be ethanol resistant. Most of the new hose complies with EPA requirements for evaporative emmissions which means it is ethanol resistant.

I was told NOT to put ethonal in my boat...
because of something to do with water if it gets in the fuel

Ya, just find out what sizes you need and go to Napa or AutoZone and they can set you up.

Remember to replace all the lines not just from the tank to the engine, alot of guys forget about under the hood.

They don't make non ethanol-resistant hoses any more. At least not any reputable manufacturer. Ethanol has been around for years and is a fact of life. Might as well get used to it.

I was wondering, don't the fuel lines have to be approved for marine use? If so, does NAPA or Autozone carry that type?

Re: ethonal resistant fuel lines

you need to read up on the ethanol issue: http://newboatbuilders.com/docs/Ethanol.pdf

The fuel industry has been putting Ethanol (spell that Alcohol) in the gas since the phony oil crisis of the 1970's The USCG , the American Boat and Yacht, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and National Marine Manufacturers Assoc (NMMA) got together in the 80's and developed a new alcohol resistant hose for marine use. Since then the EPA has stepped in and made the hose even more resistant to vapor migrating through the hose.

So as all have said, just go buy some new hose, and replace all of it. Hose should be replaced every few years anyway, especially if it's exposed to sunlight. It is not very UV resistant.
