'96' 75hp Force. I live in Colo. More and more
you can't get away from the Ethynol in the fuel
around here   Can any of you Force Guru's suggest any additives, or precautions I might take to extend the life of my motor, or is it doomed :( :( , and we're all just SOL here.

You might try the Fuel Conditioner that Mercury offers. It helps combat the water that ethynol seems to be a magnet for.

TMD

Thanks, :) I'll look into that. They're only
suppose to run it in the winter months, But they keep extending and soon it will be year round.
Big lobby by the farmers (corn) and Enviro ( :p )people.

I'll bet those farmers aren't required to use that fuel in their tractors. And they don't pay the highway tax either.

I know they have special deisel for them. See if you can get some non-eth gas at a farmers co-op, for "fish farm" use. The loggers around here use this gas in their equipment, just can't use it in vehicles on the highway.

Probably use the same off-road diesel that construction companies use, dirt cheap and dirty...

Re: Ethynol Everywhere, Help!

Well I would be real happy if my engine could ues E-85. This is 85% Ethanol and 15% Gasoline. My Ford Ranger Supercab pulls better with better Milage than gas alone on E-85. Normal tanks are 21 mpg gasoline not trailering and 11 mpg pulling my boat.
We have lots of hills and wind in New Mexico. I get 18 mpg on E-85 no trailering but 13 mpg with a trailer in tow. Seems under load I get better milage with E-85. Boats are under load all the time when running. Plus E-85 is 100 octane. I wish the Ranger was not a Flexfuel and only ran E-85 as it would get the same milage as Gasoline but not enough E-85 Stations here in NM (2) none in CA where the Eco nuts live. LOL

I guess I could change the jets in the carb but E-85 needs a plastic or Stainless steel fuel tank. My boat has an aluminum tank. Also the carb and engine gaskets have to be compatible with ethanol.

Well I really like my 88 85 Hp Force motor seems strong enough and these forums really help!!!
