EVC Ignition Key Switch Problem

HI,
I have a Dual engine VP powered boat with V8-300-CE-B Joystick (EVC-E ) , 210 hours.
Around 10 hours ago I started having the following random and sporadic issue: when the port ignition key is turned to the 1st position the EVC doesn't wake up. (Instruments stay off). Despite turning the key from "O" to the "I" position many times nothing happens.
But if I turn the Std key to "I" (stdb side works good) , the port key starts working again. Or I can turn the batteries off/on to get the port side key to work as it should.
I would like to believe that just the key swith is the problem but its weird that when the problem happens , I can turn the key many times and it wont work until any of above two workarounds is applied.
Since the failure doesnt happen very often I would like some suggestions before starting to replacing the key switches or may be swapping the Analog Key Interface modules.

Thanks!

Start with a test light and volt meter and start troubleshooting. May be bad connection, may be a bad switch, may be a bad ground
