I am replacing the pump and now that I have the new kit, it appears the impeller will is larger then the housing. The manual gives steps to reassemble but no illustration. What am I doing wrong?

Be sure you bend the impeller vanes the right way. Look at the old one to get it right. The manual should cover this important step.

Put the impellor on the shaft and slide the housing down to it. Now, while pushing down on the housing turn the drive shaft. The vanes of the water pump will bend as you turn and the housing will go down. It doesn't matter which way the vanes bend. They will get themselves in the right direction the first time you start the engine.

Thanks, I will give it a try. It made me a little nerevous to force it in. Now that I know that is the norm.
