What is. my Evenrude 225 VRO 1989 / 1990 model, charge ratet in amps and what sort of charging system is used I have two 120 amp hour 12 volt batteries on board used to power the usual navagational instruments, GPS , Depth sounder, Fish finder, VHF radio, running lights, cabin lights as well as docking lights ( 55 w. halogen globes) I think that my total consumption will be less than what the charging system supplies, Kind Regards William Wright

Re: Evenrude 225 VRO charging rate.

Thank you for the reply, at what voltage are the battaries charged at and is there some form of voltage regulation built into the charging system of the Evenrude 225 vro 1990 model? The YAMAHA 55 el that we use as a main motor on a smaller cabin boat charges at 15.5 to 17 volts and has the tendency to "boil" the battery after a prolonged period of time, fortunately we are able to top this battery up,maybe some form of voltage regulation could be fitted to both motors, Kind Regards William Wright.

The voltage is regulated to 14 some odd volts. If your other motor is charging at 15-16 volts chances are the voltage regulator is shot.
