My frend just gave me a 1957 10 hp evenrude out board motor that was in his shed for at least 20 years,
I cleaned it up and tryed to start it but the pull rope does not engage the model and serial number is 10014 09550 Any one know the correct year?
And where can I get the parts for the pull starter?
It worked before I sprayed it down to clean off the dust and grease.
It fired up in one pull after replacing the gas lines ans spark pluge also replaced the impeller.
Any help I can get would be great as this is my first trolling motor referb.

10014 is a 1957. If it is just the plastic pawl (or recoil spring) that you need, they have them here at iboats. Anything else for the starter, see your Evinrude dealer.

Re: Evenrude sportwim 10 hp ????

Thanks for the year that matches the hand written note in the manual.
As for the recoil on the pull starter it worked when I got it took it off to clean off the oil but now the plastic pawl will not throw out to catch the fly wheel I hav oiled it greased it and then cleaned it with air nothing I have done will make it grab. the two wire springs are tight the keeper on the pawl is snug.
It acts like it is just too tight when I move it to the engage posisition it stays there and will grab the first time but as soon as I pull the rope once it goes to the dis engage and stays there so I pull the assy off and move it to ingage put the assy back on and it works for the first pull only.
Any advice would be great.
