Thanks for the info. Called the owner. Motor has 1 bad cylinder. Boat and motor are both 1987. I figure at least $ 2500 for a rebuild. He wants $ 3000 for the boat and trailer. Both in very good cond.!! Don't know if I want to be bothered with it. I think he would take a lot less money for it.

A 1987 boat with no motor is probably not worth $3,000. A bum 2000 OB is not a motor ... it's a project. If you can get the price down on the hull and really like it then I'd say you're okay - but be careful.

Ya, your right. It would be a project. Im gonna pass on this one. I have an 18 1/2 ft. "Lund" dual console. Great freshwater boat. I'm in FL. now, so looking for a saltwater boat.

I would think that if you're patient $3K should fetch a pretty reasonable center console boat. I did a little fishing this past July out of Destin and the boat we ran on was about a 24' center console - not real fancy honestly. I don't know much about salt water, but that Lund may do fine in some of the inshore waters.

You've got plenty left in you, I'm sure. My wife's grandfather is in his 80's; a retired dairy farmer. I think he's in better shape than I am at half his age!

I had an acquaintance here in TN a few years ago who used to fish a 18' in Florida. I don't know how far offshore he went in it, but I know he fished a little way out.

That said ... you can find projects that are well worth taking on. Check this thread out: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=521270 He found this one FREE and dug up an outboard for the boat.

You're in good shape with a working boat - so you can wait for the right deal to come along.
