I had a fishing friend just GIVE me a 80's outoboard he said runs but he has no use for it. He said it was made by Mercury under a different name. US MARINE POWER.
The only indenifying thing is a sticker that says US MARINE POWER and Model 1279 Sn 152f902.
Has anyone ever heard of this motor? Is is a cross referance to any other Merc made at same time. Are parts available. I see that US MARine was owned by bruiswick (merc related) at the time motor was made.
Motor looks nice. Really would like some info.
Thank you.

US Marine was temporarily manufacturer of Force engines.

Mercury bought them from US Marine.

You probably have a Force made by US Marine.

History of company shows the the era of US marine was when Brunswick bought company and also was a mercury or visa versa company. It says they were made by merc. I am trying to see if they compare to the same year merc or gamefisher motor for a repair manual possibly and parts. model is 152f902 serial 1278

'89 Force 15hp is what I get. Does that seem to match the engine?

If it was made in '84-'89 it was made by Force when US Marine was still an independent company; they weren't bought by Brunswick until 1990.

Parts availability doesn't appear to be as good for the smaller motors than with the larger Force models although I don't know the exact situation with the 15HP.

From the reaserch I did on the company. It did not become US Marine until bought by Brunswick in 1990. In the 80's the name of company was slightly diffeent. This appears to be a 1990 Force (by Brunswick AKA Mercury) Model. I see matching model for sale on ebay 1990 15hp. Thank you for all your help. I am told Merc still has all the parts hopefully?

I am not told for sure it is a 1990 model by model number 152f 90 2. So it is a merc made force thank goodness. Should be easier to find parts.
Thanks

I usually just check over at mercruiser parts.com to get an idea of availability. If it's NLA, they'll list it as NLA. But that doesn't mean there's old stock left around at old Merc dealers. If you're looking for a NLA part, your merc dealer should be able to do a NOS (new, old stock) search of other dealers inventories. Some don't know how to do this though, so try themarinedoctor.com if you run into this situation.
C&P this into your browser for mercuiser parts:
mercruiserparts.com/selectModels2.asp?type_id=FORC

EDIT: It doesn't matter much if it's a 90 or an 89. I don't think there's any change '88-'92. It's not a Merc though, it's definitely a FORCE design. USMarine=Force.

EDIT2: I'm an idiot! That link has a model number list. 152F90 is in fact a 1990 15hp:
mercruiserparts.com/images/FORCE/823056/0.png
