Ever purchase a boat out of state?

So I'm starting to settle in on what type/model boat I would like to purchase. Problem being not very many are available here where I live. <Long Island>

Now and again I see what loo like nice, Fresh water use only boats. Most are 4+ hundred miles from where I live.

Now before I attempt to drag one back behind my F-250, I have to wonder.... has anyone paid to have a boat transported to them?

Would love to find out more details.
