prop.jpg This came off a 150 blackmax I bought a few yrs ago trying to figure out anything I can about it , numbers on it are 48-68560A4 23 Pitch Any help would be great Sorry cant upload photo says the file is to big

Your prop looks like it has been worked on for damage or repitched. It doesn't look right to me, but I'm no expert :)

If I am not mistaken, that is a big if there, it looks like what the use to sell called a chopper prop. I do remember props that looked like that a few decades or so ago. And it was a Mercury prop as well for some of their high HP engines.

Ayuh,.... I believe the round ear props were known as chopper props,...

The straight trailin' edge props were known as cleaver props,...

Chopper props were better for bow lift, while cleaver props are better for stern lift,....

Bondo, I think you are right. I do remember the "Cleaver" props now that you mention it. Around that time a friend of mine was running a Mercury 175 HP engine on his Bass Boat and he was always buying some new type prop. And he bought both a Cleaver and a Chopper prop looking for the extra MPH speed. Thanks for the correction.
