I am at my wits end so ill admit defeat. lol. anyway, i have a 30hp evinrude transom steer that i am having issues with. I was having a problem with it hitting a false rev limit it seemed most of the summer on and off, so i finally got some time to check it out and found a coil that had a tab broke off of it. well, in the meantime of trying to solder it, my dad tried to take it for a ride and cranked it a few times with both of them out of it. no big deal or so i thought. I got the one coil soldered and put it back on to give it a shot. nothing. so i figured it must be the coil that i cooked and got 2 new ones and put those both on today. same thing. It has spark, gas getting to it, it seems to anyway. I changed the plugs with no difference. the kill switch works it looks like. I tried to connect it by bypassing it and leaving it hooked up with the same luck or lack of. I thought that maybe it was the switch for the reverse and forward switch that will not allow it to start so i checked that out a bit and realized that it just makes contact with another part to start it. so that is not it either but i lost the screws to that so i have to get them tomorrow. Does anyone have an idea for me? I didnt see any fuses but i didnt check behind the starter or anything, is there one back there or somewhere else? my next question is about the lever assembly that hooks to the throttle linkage and goes under the starter gear. is there anything under that like a fuse or anything. all i get is a single pop out of it when it finally gets enough mixture to fire once. I know it is getting gas since i can see it coming out of it through the exhaust. any ideas will be appreciated, i am ready to get some c4 and let her go out in the lake and blow it up lol along with my deck boat that started acting up over the weekend. steve
