Hello,
I'm having troubles with my power trim. It just clicks. Until I find the problem, I want to mannually lower the motor. I thought I found the screw, but when I tried releasing the screw, nothing happened.

1: Where is this screw supposed to be?

2: I read that it could be lack of oil in the cylinders that can cause failing power trim. Where do I find the refill hole?

As I understand there are three cylinders for triming, two for the fine-tuning, and one for lifting the motor completly, right? The screw I thought was right was situated on the right-side cylinder, is that perhaps the oil refill spot?

Hope someone can clear this out for me. I just bought this boat, and the power trim broke just after the firt tour...

Richard

asok,Look on the port side of the transom bracket and see if there is a hole that allows access to the manual release screw.

Is it visible or do I have to remove something to gain access to it?

By the way, when you say port side, you mean from the front (the boat-side)? English isn't my primary language...

correction: by port side, you mean the left hand side (seen from the stern), right?

Re: evinrude 110 power trim screw

Hi,
went down to the boat today. Looked a long time on the port side, but I didn't find that hole with a screw.

However, when I looked on the other side, the right side of the boat I found a hole with a screw in it. Assumed this was the screw, so I tried releasing it, but nothing happened...

I suppose there should be only one screw to release the pressure?

asock ,You are correct. It is on the starboard side. There is just the one.If backed off all the way to the circlip(retaining ring) stop ,it should allow the engine to be lowered, providing the unit isn't froze up.The oil reservoir and fill plug are also on the sarboard side of the unit.

Re: evinrude 110 power trim screw

It seems as the motor is stuck, when I released the screw all the way back, nothing happened.

Now where should I look? I heard that perhaps it could help if I tried lifting the motor up all the way. I'm going to pick the boat up next week or something. I'd appreciate any tips on what I can do.

I heard that oil sometimes can go to wrong places in the cylinders and that lifting the motor completly (by hand) could fix this problem. If it isn't stuck in that direction as well. Does this sound resonable?
