Hello, I bought this bass boat and I am trying to rewire some things. The wires coming from the control box were taped up so I untapped them to see what was going on. I found that the black wire with a yellow stripe was cut and the black wire was cut. It didn't look as if they were taped together but I don't know. I left them alone and started my boat. It will not turn off. I don't know anything about wiring but I assume its a simple fix. Do I need to connect the wires back. Thanks for the help.

That wires the kill switch line. Its being cut as they probably had the opposite problem as you- that being it wouldnt start. Any ground contact on that wire will stop all spark at the engine.
You should work out why they cut it, most likely it had a short to ground between the wire cut and the control box. If you can, track that down to somewhere along the wires route- most likely in the control box/emergency pull switch or key switch.

if you want to take the quickest route, just hook up a switch to that yellow/black wire and put the other end to ground somewhere such as on the motor, pushing that button will cut the motor.
One thing.... measure that black line coming from the control box, it should have no voltage on it, it should only have a connection to ground when the key is off. If it has voltage on it, it will blow your powerpack. That may be the real reason they cut it but its more likely it was cut due to a short to ground.

Ok I will check those wires and get back to you. It did start and shut off until I messed with that tape. I wish that I would of just left it alone. Thanks and I'll let you know what I find.

ok I checked the wires and the black wire was pulled loose. So I tied the 2 wires cut back together and fixed the black wire and it works perfect all except for the engine running rough. That is a work in progress. Thanks for the help!!
